This is our suggestion for individual travelers who prefer not to join a group but who would also appreciate some guidance in exploring a new area.

You may prefer to work on your own but we can help a lot with showing you locations and providing transport where needed.

The holiday will very likely be tailored to your requirements but what follows is a suggestion for you to consider.

How to arrive. Granada or Almería airports are the nearest airports and public transport is possible from either if your flight arrives in the morning. See flight information. Alternatively we can provide transfers.

The locations

During the guided days we will be able to show you nooks and crannies where you will be comfortable sketching or which require transport. In this way the scope of your holiday will be much wider.

During the accompanied days you can receive as much or as little tutoring as suits you. See tutor details. We also hope to be able to give you a bit more insight into what you are seeing.

For the days you are exploring and sketching in peace on your own we provide maps, notes and backup support to make sure all goes well. If you are also a walker on these days you will be able to explore widely using our notes.

The village of Trevélez provides a good central base. It is a thriving, interesting village where traditional life continues but the new industries of tourism and ham add a little life.

There are good options for eating out, and the hotel, attractively situated in the upper part of the village, has perhaps the best menu in the whole area.

Alternative venues. Depending on what you tell us of your interests and the season, we might suggest other villages for you to stay in. Trevélez is the highest village in Spain (1400 metres at the paper shop, but 1600 by the time you reach the top of the village. It has a perfect climate except in winter when it tends to be the coldest place to be.
