Home - Articles - The rain in Spain
This article gives some weather statistics for the area. It also gives the unlucky few who suffered bad weather, a chance to moan about all those blue skies pictured elsewhere on the website. Send us your bad weather pictures and a few words of caption and we will show our sympathy by displaying them here.
The villages of the Alpujarra are at about 1400 metres above sea level, Granada city is less high and tends to be hotter in summer. Hot or cold days are to be expected in spring and autumn, as are cold nights at this altitude. Winter is usually dry and clear. Most rainfall comes in spring or autumn but don't ask us when! Summer days are hot (too hot for walking) except at high altitude, well above the villages. Summer nights are perfectly comfortable unlike many lower areas of Spain.
Not many people know that.....
- average annual temperaturein the period 1900-2000 in Granada ranged between 13.9 and 16.38 ºC.
