Guided winter walking holiday
Mecina in the area known as La Taha, in the spectacular gorge of the Rio Trevélez is a lovely area to walk from, we can walk from the hotel door and wander the alleys of the many picturesque villages set on the hillside. The 6 guided walks will be varied to suit the mood of the group, but as a general aim we make the walks relaxed and enjoyable for all as we explore the culture, past and present and enjoy the hills and valleys.
Groups of 4 or more may choose their own dates and specifications. Contact us to check availability.
Based La Tahá de Pitres, one of the best places to walk and discover the spectacular gorge of the Rio Trevélez we can walk from the hotel door and wander the alleys of the many picturesque villages set on the hillside. We are also near enough to the other main centres to take a short bus ride and make day excursions walking in the other valleys of the Alpujarra.
Winter walking implies a bit of risk with the weather but all the pictures on this page were taken during the same week during our 2009 holiday. Our overall impression from a mere 18 years of experience is that mid-winter brings clear air and winter sunshine, but there have been wet winters like that of 2009/10.
“Don’t want to walk everyday"? Well there are no rules, the hotel provides a pleasant environment to rest and relax and taxis are available if you want to get off to explore on your own.

"As you know, I enjoyed the walking with the IBM party in October immensely - so much so that I am taking on the job of arranging a return visit for next year. .....would you be willing to put up with us again? I expect that there will be a rush to sign up for the next visit, as word of the success of this year's trip has spread far and wide."
