The hotel is family owned and run, has excellent facilities and is furnished to a higher than average standard with very spacious bedrooms. There is a friendly informal atmosphere and most of the staff speak sufficient English to chat and help guests with their wants.
Ample buffet breakfasts set you up for the days exercise and dinner and included wine will relax you afterwards. At lunch time we will be provided with a varied picnic or a bar lunch. The only pocket money you will need would be for personal bar expenses and other purchases.
The walks will be varied to suit participants abilities and wishes but a default plan is given below. Based in La Tahá de Pitres, one of the best places to walk and discover the spectacular gorge of the Rio Trevélez we can walk from the hotel door and wander the alleys of the many picturesque villages set on the hillside. We are also near enough to the other main centres to take a short bus ride and make day excursions walking in the other valleys of the Alpujarra.

Arrival On day 1 You will be met personally by your guide for the week, at the airport of arrival and driven to the village of Mecina to settle in to the hotel. Transfer time 3hrs or less depending on which airport you use. If your group members all arrive on the same flight then this makes for a simpler day. We will meet your last flight in. Depending on arrival time we will provide lunch during the coach trip to the hotel.
Dinner will be taken with your guide who will explain the plan for the week, and answer any concerns you may have.
On day 2 after a leisurely breakfast we will take a walk in the immediate environs of the hotel, exploring the various Moorish villages and their culture past and present. Picnic lunch.

On day 3 we plan to visit Trevélez which claims to be the highest village in Spain and to produce the best ham. Regardless of the truth of these claims, the village sits in a beautiful valley and we will have a great walk.
On day 4 after an early breakfast we will prepare for a mini-expedition to the slopes of Mulhacén, Depending on factors on the day we may not reach the peak but are likely to top the 3000m. contour

The refuge is situated high in the Parque National de la Sierra Nevada. The area is unique and designated a biosphere reserve, is home to dozens of plant and insect species unique to the Sierra Nevada. After exploring as much as time allows we will walk back to the cars, in time to return to the hotel and relax with a fino before dinner. |

On day 5 we have a visit to Granada planned for you. Granada is the European City most recently occupied by the Arabic inhabitants of Spain. It has a spectacular architectural legacy from that 14C period and many earlier remains. The 16C Brought new rulers and culture that gave rise to the city's renaissance heritage.
Transport and Tickets to the Alhambra are included in the visit. The bus trip is about 90 minutes each way.
On Day 6 after a short car ride we will walk to the village of Castaras where we take a bar lunch to remember. Returning to the hotel at about 6pm in time to relax in the bath or the pool depending on season. Dinner in the hotel.
